Basingstoke Canal Boating Club

We are delighted to welcome you to the website of the Basingstoke Canal Boating Club. The Club was formed in 1989 with the following main objectives:

  • To encourage boating on the Basingstoke Canal
  • To represent the interests of boat users to Local and National decision making bodies
  • To improve facilities for boaters on the Canal

From its formation the club has undertaken a number of tasks and activities including:

·

The building of several water points on the canal

·

The waterspace management for the re-opening of the canal in 1991

·

The running of boaters competitions at a number of events including the national Waterways Festival at Henley in 1997 and the National Trailboat Rally at Wootton Bassett in 1998

·

Fundraising at its events in support of a number of causes including, Boating for the Handicapped and the back-pumping scheme for the Woodham locks on the canal

·

Participating, since their beginning in 1995, in twinning activities with the Canal D'Orleans, with approximately an annual visit in alternate directions

The club is open to:

  • Boat Users
  • Boat Owners
  • Canal Enthusiasts & anyone who just enjoys 'messing about in boats' whether or not they own one
